Usage Instructions

Image Batch Rename

Rename many images at once using simple rules (prefix, suffix, index), templates with variables (date, EXIF, index), or find-and-replace. All processing is done in your browser; no uploads. Supports all image formats including RAW.

How to Use

  1. Upload – Drag and drop or click to select files (max 500, 1–2 GB total depending on mode). They appear in the file queue.
  2. Set rule – Choose Simple (prefix, suffix, keep name, index, start number, padding, case), Template (e.g. `{exif_date}_{index}` with variables), or Find & Replace (with optional regex and case sensitivity).
  3. Preview – Click Preview to compute new names. The list shows original → new name; conflicts are highlighted.
  4. Fix conflicts – If the warning bar appears, click Auto-fix with index to make names unique.
  5. Download – Use Download on a single row or Download ZIP to get all files with the new names.

Is it Safe?

Yes. Renaming and EXIF reading run in your browser. Files never leave your device. No server upload, no storage, no tracking.

FAQ

Q: How do I rename images in batch?

A: Drag and drop files (any format, including RAW) onto the upload area. Choose a mode: Simple (prefix, suffix, index), Template (variables like {exif_date}, {index}), or Find & Replace. Click 'Preview' to see new names, then 'Download ZIP' to get all files with the new names. All processing is local; no uploads.

Q: Is it safe? Are my files uploaded?

A: All processing is done locally in your browser. Your files are never uploaded to any server. You can use this tool offline once the page is loaded.

Q: What file limits apply?

A: You can add up to 500 files. Total size limit is 1 GB in simple mode and 2 GB in template mode (EXIF reading uses more memory). Single files have no size limit for renaming (we do not decode images). If a single file is over 2 GB, ZIP download is skipped and files are downloaded one by one.

Q: What if two files get the same new name?

A: The tool detects conflicts and shows a warning. Use 'Auto-fix with index' to add an index to the naming rule so each file gets a unique name. You can also switch to template mode and include {index} in the template.
